PPC Search Engine Promotion

PPC search Engine PromotionOne of the best methods of making money on the internet is PPC Search Engine Promotion. PPC stands for “Pay Per Click” and is the term used for paid advertising on Google, Yahoo and other similar search networks.

PPC search engine promotion has built a reputation as being very costly and difficult to master, but that’s only because people are jumping into it not knowing what they are doing. Most people fail at PPC purely because they don’t understand it.

It’s a complex subject and does have a fair few tricks involved but if you put in the time and energy to learn it will pay you back massively.

One of the most important parts of PPC search engine promotion is understanding what type of keywords to bid on. There is no point on bidding on a keyword if it isn’t going to make you some kind of sale.

Let’s assume you have a website which sells a book about dog training. If you are bidding on a keyword such as “free dog training course” you will be throwing money away. Someone searching using that keyword has very little intent to buy anything and that keyword will just end up losing you money.

If for example you a keyword such as “stop my dog jumping”, you will most likely get much better results. Bidding on product names is also useful as if someone knows the name of a product they may be at the very end of the “buying process” and ready to buy with a credit card in their hand.

Another secret to PPC search engine promotion success is to create a way to track which keywords lead to sales. If you are selling a clickbank product you can ask the owner of the product to set up a sales tracking code for you on their website which you can then use to track sales via the Google AdWords interface. This is one way of tracking sales.

Another way is to assign unique identifiers to each keyword. You can do this in the clickbank interface or by using products such as HippoJaw.

Setting up conversion tracking goes far beyond the scope of this page but is something that every single PPC campaign must have in order to be successful. I’ve never even thought of setting up a campaign that doesn’t employ some form of tracking.

To implement tracking properly I recommend you use the guide provided in Commission Blueprint. It is the most straightforward guide I’ve found and will have you tracking your sales in no time.

Once you know which words bring you sales and which don’t you can use that information to fine tune your campaign. Delete any keywords that have received 150 clicks and no sales and work on the keywords that are performing.
